What is the PDS?
PSD is an independent section within the LIS, established to investigate allegations of immigration misconduct. It is staffed by experienced officers with specialized training in the handling of citizen issues, complaints and immigration discipline. Professional standards investigators conduct investigations with objectivity fairness and openness.


Who can make a complaint? 

Any person who witnesses or has direct knowledge of the misconduct may file a complaint. It does not matter whether the person making the complaint was directly involved in the incident.


When should a complaint be made?

Call the PSD as soon as possible if you witness or heard of immigration misconduct. This misconduct may relate to excessive use of force, unethical conduct, discourteous or abusive actions, or any other violation of a law.

  • Any action of the LIS officer or officers, or LIS unit, which unlawfully affects the rights of person
  • Any action of LIS officer or officers, or an LIS unit, which adversely affects the public good.
  • Any failure bby LIS officer(s), or an LIS unit, to discharge duties in full and on time.
  • There may be other types of the misconduct that can be a subject of a complaint
